What Drives Me
I’m Patrick, 32 years old, and I’m traveling around the world for a year. It’s not my first extended trip. This time, however, I’m setting off without any plan - no deadlines and no appointments. I’ve quit my jobs and I’m traveling light. Well, my ukulele is with me too. I simply can’t leave without it. Before the trip, I deleted my social media accounts and am focusing entirely on this blog. By now, I have accounts on Facebook and Instagram again, but I use them exclusively for planning my ukulele trip.
What do I want to achieve with this blog?
I know that not many people have the opportunity to undertake such a journey. Either money or time is lacking. Sometimes health doesn’t cooperate or there are other obligations that don’t allow for a longer absence. Or there’s a lack of courage. I understand that well. And I know how privileged I am to be able to afford such a trip.
This blog is meant to take you, as a reader, on my journey - through the good times and the bad. While I’m on a search for happiness with my trip, it’s possible that this search will also bring up stories from my past. Positive and negative. I want to make the journey entertaining and categorize it into different sections.
Travel Blog: Here I write about my current travel route. Room 404: Here I take you on my last trip to a Buddhist monastery in Northern Thailand. Thoughts: Here I share my thoughts on a more minimalist and happier life. Ukulele Stories: On my journey, I want to visit ukulele meetups around the world and report on my musical journey.
Enjoy reading! If you have any feedback and/or questions, feel free to send me an email! Yours, Patrick
